Reimagining a fresh tomorrow today 

Introduction & Background

In 2022, The Educator Academy launched its inaugural conference for educators in Kansas City, The Summit. 

The Summit is a one-day conference where educators can take time to celebrate the excellent work they are doing and envision how their practice and the field of education can be even better. As a conference in Kansas City, we prioritise uplifting the brilliance of educators in our community by inviting them to lead sessions for our attendees. 

In 2025, The Summit hopes to create a space to Restore: imagining a fresh tomorrow today. 

The objective of this is to offer 10 applicants an opportunity to lead a 60 minute breakout session for up to 40 attendees during The Summit. 

Submission Guidelines & Requirements

To apply to present at The Summit,  you will need to submit the following information in the application below: 

  1. Personal information 
    • Including a facilitator bio noting relevant work experience, and a headshot that could be used for promotion materials if your session is chosen
  2. Facilitation summary
    • Download the template and complete with information related to your session. We have a brief example of what this template can look like completed here. 
  3. Supporting materials for your session
    1. If you have these created, please share a draft of materials, including: Slides, Handouts, and Other materials, if applicable
    2. Need a slide template? You can, but are not required to submit your slides at this time.

Evaluation Factors

The Educator Academy will evaluate all proposals based on the following criteria: 

  1. Relevancy to this year’s theme
      • Restore: imagining a better tomorrow today 
  2. Connection to education 
  3. Inclusivity of attendees 
  4. Adherence to the submission guidelines (listed above)

Project Timelines

The application timeline is as follows:

  • Aug 23rd, 2024: Facilitator Applications go live
  • October 15th, 2024: Facilitator Application closed
  • October 31st, 2024: Final decisions for facilitator communicated to applicants
  • November 1st – February 22, 2025:  Partner with The Educator Academy to finalize preparation for facilitation
  • February 22, 2025:  The Summit is held

 

Compensation

Each facilitator will receive $100 paid by The Educator Academy for their facilitation on the day of The Summit. Payment will be disturbed by the end of March 2025.
