The Educator Academy

Mentor a Resident

High quality Mentor Teachers are the cornerstone to our Residents’ development and success. At The Educator Academy, we envision a city where an equitable education is guaranteed. The Educator Academy recruits and trains teachers for Kansas City schools with the hopes of creating a network of well trained and supported teachers united in vision for equitable education for all students in Kansas City. This mission cannot be achieved without the deep commitment from our Mentor Teachers.

The Mentor Teacher experience provides a unique opportunity for your own development and to build a community of future educators.

Effective Mentors have proven to be the most critical component of a Resident’s experience and success. We firmly believe that strong mentorship leads to strong Resident development and teacher retention.

Mentor Teacher Program

Become a Mentor

Mentor Teachers are essential to Resident development. The residency model requires Resident-learning through practical experience in the classroom. As a Mentor Teacher, you guide their development through instructional modeling, and sharing behind-the-scenes realities of teaching, while building a strong relationship through mutual trust, feedback and reflection. You are essential to The Educator Academy’s Residency model because of the lasting impact Mentor Teachers have on their Residents teaching practice.

Mentor Teacher Program

Make an Impact

The impact of the Mentor Teacher is multi-faceted. As a teacher leader, you are influencing students and your school community. As a mentor, you have the opportunity to widen that influence by empowering your Resident with effective and responsive teaching practices through modeling instructional practices and facilitating Resident reflection.
