Who We Are
Preparing Highly Effective Teachers
The Educator Academy will recruit, prepare, place, and retain passionate individuals to join the teaching profession.
The Educator Academy, formerly the Kansas City Teacher Residency (KCTR) does this through a teacher residency and fellowship model, allowing participants to hone their teaching skills by serving as teachers. Our residents serve as AmeriCorps members in mentor teachers’ classrooms for a full school year while fellows serve in their classrooms. Participants earn their teaching certification, receive instructional coaching, engage in coursework, and participate in a larger community of educators. This rigorous development model helps our teachers become the educators the students of Kansas City deserve.
