Introduction & Background
Since launching in 2022, The Summit has given Kansas City educators a space to celebrate their work and envision what’s next for their practice and the field.
Now in its 4th year, The Summit 2027: Meet the Moment takes place Saturday, February 20th, at The Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. As a conference rooted in Kansas City, we prioritize uplifting the brilliance of educators in our community by inviting them to lead sessions for attendees.
If you’ve faced a real challenge in your practice and met it with belief, determination, and a strategy, this is your invitation to share it. We’re offering 10 educators the chance to lead a 60-minute breakout session for up to 40 attendees. Any format is welcome, as long as attendees leave with something practical they can use in their own classroom.
Submission Guidelines & Requirements
To apply to present at The Summit, you will need to submit the following information in the application below:
- Personal information
- Including a facilitator bio noting relevant work experience, and a headshot that could be used for promotion materials if your session is chosen
- Facilitation summary

The use of artificial intelligence in the writing or creation of any portion of a submission to present at The Summit is strictly prohibited.
Evaluation Factors
The Educator Academy will evaluate all proposals based on the following criteria:
- Relevancy to this year’s theme
- Meet the Moment: real opportunities, real growth, right now
- Connection to relevant educational moments
- Adherence to the submission guidelines (listed above)

Compensation
Each facilitator will receive $150 paid by The Educator Academy for their facilitation on the day of The Summit. Payment will be distributed by the end of March 2027.
Accepted applicants will receive one complimentary ticket to the event, valued at $100.
If multiple facilitators are named in the application, compensation will be split equally amongst them. The Educator Academy is unable to compensate for travel and lodging.
